Group Breeds

The 133rd Westminster Dog Show was a spectacular event held over two days in the USA at Madison Square Garden in New York City. There were 2500 dogs, from all over the world, competing at the event. 170 breeds and varieties, including a new one for 2009, were judged in 7 different groups. Number of breeds in each group were Sporting - 28, Hound - 26, Working - 26, Terrier - 28, Toy - 23, Non-Sporting - 18, Herding - 21. The breed of the overall champion was a Sussex Spaniel.

Winning Sussex Spaniel Ch Clussexx Three D Grinchy Glee a.k.a. Stump is the 2009 Westminster Dog Show champion. The Westminster kennel club trophy for Best In Show. The group category winners are on the results pages.

The 133rd 2009 Westminster Dog Show was held over two days in February with many highlights and triumphs, the 2009 Westminster Kennel Club Trophy was finally awarded to Ch Clussexx Three D Grinchy Glee a.k.a. Stump a Sussex Spaniel.

America's first and only champions only dog show, the event which takes place every year in February at Madison Square Garden in New York City is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the world. It is a two-day event where dog owners from around the world take their dogs to compete in several group categories and are judged closely by members of the American Kennel Club (AKC).
